NaNoWriMo. And a New Book Title!
NaNoWriMo is upon us...nearly. Are you ready?
For those of you that don't have a clue about what I'm talking about, here's the short version.
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month which begins at midnight on November 1st and ends at 11:59pm on November 30th. The goal? To write 50,000 words.
That's 1,667 words per day for 30 days. Straight. Think you've got it in you?
Now that September is winding down and we are entering the month of October, it's time to get serious. We have a little over a month to come up with a plot line that we can write about for a month.
For some of us, that means coming up with an elaborate outline. (Not my style) For others, it means having a general concept of what we intend to write about. (pretty much what I do) And for another group, it means encouraging those who decide to try--opting not to participate. (This year, that's me!)
I myself will be sitting on the NaNo sidelines this year because I am pounding on my current work in progress, trying to finish my first draft by October 28th. I'm almost finished, and my hope is that by the time November rolls around, I will be working on my first of many revisions. Revisions!!! My absolute favorite part of novel writing, because for me, this is where the story really comes together.
But, if you are looking forward to this November, and your NaNo project, I am super excited for you. In fact, feel free to tell me all about it in the comments. I'd love to hear what you are thinking you will write about! I will try to post some encouragement for all of you on my facebook page as the month of November progresses.
Since I brought up my second novel...Would you like to hear the title?? Keep in mind that it may change by the time I get around to publishing this baby, but as it stands right now it's titled...
THE HAUNTING OF RED BLOOD HILL
Spooky, right? I love it. And while I can't tell you much about the book, let the title percolate and get you all excited to read what's coming. Believe me--there will be blood. And a haunted hill. And maybe, just maybe, a wee bit of time-travel. You know...it's kinda my thing.
